Each of these systems combines large radar (GSR) and high-power IR cameras to detect threats. While these large systems have proven to be effective in many areas such as forward operating bases (FOBs), many smaller groups in Combat Outposts (COPs) and firebases have been unable to use these large systems because of cost and support requirements.
